The child is father of the man

One of my favourite short quotes is from a poem by William Wordsworth: ‘The child is father of the man.’ The context in which they were written was a positive one, but the meaning extends and develops well into the human experience of human trauma, too. Our boundaries are set when we are young, and it can take us a lifetime to reset them.
